This precious coverlet designed by Wendy Poche Schoen features ultra-soft, puffy appliqued chicks delicately arranged around the edges. This easy technique involves making little “pillows” of machine-stitched and stuffed appliques of soft stretch terrycloth, which are hand appliqued onto the base fabric then embroidered with imported wool embroidery. The base of the coverlet is imported cotton sateen, quilted by hand in the tradition of Sashiko then further embellished with wool embroidery. The coverlet is interlined with soft flannel fabric and bordered with a large scalloped flange. This pattern was excerpted from the book Sewing for a Royal Baby.
